We are offering Telehealth Consultations

At this stage Regent Street Physiotherapy is continuing to see patients in the clinic. However, in response to the Covid-19 situation we would like to let you know that we are now offering Telehealth physiotherapy consultations.

What are the benefits of Telehealth?

Evidence has suggested that video consultations are cost effective, safe and well received. The introduction of telehealth has allowed patients to continue or commence management while maintaining social distancing.

What should you expect during a Telehealth consult?

The structure of a telehealth consultation runs much the same as a standard physiotherapy consultation. The subjective assessment is an opportunity for you to tell the therapist about your symptoms, goals and limitations. The therapist will be gathering information from you, and carrying out an objective assessment that may include observation of posture, range of movement and analysis of functional tasks. The physiotherapist will give you advice and specific exercises to address your specific limitations and work towards your goals. We are using an application called PhysiApp that is free to our clients. Through this technology, you will receive videos and instructions with your management plan, and an interface to interact with your physiotherapist throughout. Our Physiotherapists are able to provide medical certificates, referrals and liaise with your other treating professionals (GP, specialist, coach, exercise physiologist) as required.

How do I access Telehealth?

You can call our reception staff on 49509805 to discuss or book a telehealth consultation. Our physiotherapist will be happy to speak to you to determine your suitability for telehealth or to answer any questions you may have. Once booked, you will be sent an email invitation with information on how to set up the PhysiApp for your appointment. At the time of your appointment your physiotherapist will call you to commence the consult. The technology solution we are using is secure, encrypted and compliant.

How long is a consult and how much does it cost?

Initial consultation (new injury or new patient) is 60 minutes.

A standard consultation is 30 minutes.

Private patients: Private Health funds are in discussion with the Australian Physiotherapy Association and NSW Health to establish protocols around Telehealth implementation. This is a quickly evolving situation, with many health funds agreeing to fund Physiotherapy Telehealth Services (For further information click here). We are staying on top of developments and are happy to provide a receipt for you to make a claim to your provider. Alternatively, you can contact your health provider to determine your individual eligibility.

EPC Patients: All patients on a current EPC plan (referred by a GP with a complete Enhanced primary care plan) are eligible for Telehealth to be billed through Medicare.

Workers Compensation and Third Party: All patients on workers compensation and third party insurance are eligible for telehealth physiotherapy but require individual approval by the insurer. Our physiotherapists are happy to request this approval on your behalf, if you are appropriate for this service.
