Maleeka Rayner specialises in Dance and Running Injuries
If you are looking for a Physio who understands the world of Dance, performance and all lower limb biomechanical and running type conditions, Maleeka has the goods. She brings with her to Regent Street Physiotherapy many years of treating experience.
Maleeka has worked in Australia and in London at highly regarded sports medicine practices. Having attained a sports specialisation masters in Physiotherapy she found herself working on all different types of people including dancers, athletes and office workers. As an ex Ballerina and having grown up being a runner, she has found herself treating mainly hips, feet and lumbo-pelvic conditions, using her manual therapy skills, yoga and pilates techniques to get people back on track.
She has been lucky enough to work alongside some of the country’s best sports Doctors, experts and coaches developing creative treatment skills and rehabilitation programs. Her sporting commitments have seen her work in some high profile positions such as the Sydney Dance Company and Bangarra Dance Theatre. She rubbed shoulders with Baz Lurhman on Strictly Ballroom, worked as treating Physiotherapist at Wicked the Musical and Grease the Musical. Maleeka headed up the Physio coverage for the Gordon Rugby Union, covered NSW Premier League (Manly United FC), NSW Netball State Champs and several overseas Rugby World Cups. She also covered City to Surf for a number of years.
She is a keen runner and a bit of a sports freak. Once a ballerina and now a very average tennis player, Maleeka will happily chew your ear off on any sports related subject. Maleeka works in the clinic on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays from 11am to 7pm and Wednesday and Friday’s from 7.00am to 3.00pm.
